Additional DOORS databases

Hi All,

Can anyone advise me on how to create addtional DOORS databases. I wish to create a separate database for development work and was informed by Telelogic that it is possible to have multiple databases and specify the required database for the client via the -d switch.

I'm assuming that it it is simply case of specifying a different port number however if I try and reinstall the DOORS server to provide a new port, the installation script only gives the option to uninstall the existing server? I'm running DOORS 9.1

Thanks in advance

Mark

Found the solution in the Managing DOORS manual. Had to create new database and service via command line.

Hi Mark,

I was looking at the <<Telelogic Managing DOORS Release 9.0 Part Number: MN-DOR-ED-MD90-08-01>>, but can't find the solution in the manual. Am I looking at the right version of the manual? If so, could you please kindly direct me to the right section where the solution lies.

Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela,

The information is in the DOORS Help under bold Installing and removing additional server services bold

doorsd -minstall -p portnumber -s server data path

where portnumber is the port the new service uses and server data path is the servdata path.
Note The new service must use a different port number than existing services.
For example:

doorsd -minstall -p 36666 -s "C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS
9.1\newdoorsdata"

Hope this helps

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the information.

How's the two databases running on your DOORS server? Would you require to migrate data between the two environments (Dev -> Prod), to synchronise the 2 databases from time to time? If so, do you use partitions to fulfill?

Cheers,
Angela

Hi Angela,

I am running a DOORS 8.3 server for normal day to day operations and will soon migrate that data to DOORS 9.1. I was running a DOORS 9.1 server for a specific customer development where we wanted to use Telelogic Publishing Engine, and this required DOORS 9.x. I've avoided the use of partitions so unfortunately can offer no advice in that area.

Regards

Mark

Hi all,

I have the same problem, I discovered also the command "doorsd -minstall ..." but obviously I have some additional issues:

We run Doors 7 on Solaris 2.9 and the "doords" tells me, that it does not understand "-minstall".

Do you have any idea ?

Hi Mark,

It's okay. I think the Archive/Restore will do too.
